If you are skilled and have relevant work experience and education, you may want to apply under the Australian Skilled Independent Category. To qualify, an applicant's occupation must be listed in the Skilled Occupation List of Australia and have a positive result in the skills assessment. Other than that, the applicant must be able to score at least 60 points in the assessment done by the immigration officials of Australia. An applicant can get extra points for Language, at least 6 points if the applicant passed the IELTS examination or an equivalent English Test except if you are a USA, UK, New Zealand, Canada or Ireland national.
