Work in Canada Temporarily

Once you get a Canada Visa Application, there are some things you should know if you want to work in Canada after getting a Canada Work Permit -

1. Your employer may have to get a Labor Market Impact Assessment also known as LMIA to hire you. LMIA is a document from Employment & Social Development Canada that gives your employer a permission to hire any foreign worker.

2. Your employer may have to pay an employer compliance fee & submit an offer of employment form to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada through the Employer Portal. If you're an exempt from the LMIA process, your employer should take this step before you apply for a Canada Work permit.

3. You don't have to submit any documents from an employer if you are applying for an open work permit.

4. You must fulfill all the Canada Visa requirements to enter the country & stay in Canada.

5. Your spouse & your children may apply to come to Canada with you. They can also apply for a study or work permit.

If you are eligible for a work permit, you can apply for a Canada Work visa. You usually have to apply for a work permit from outside of Canada but sometimes, you can also apply from inside of Canada.

If your spouse also wants to work in Canada

Your spouse can apply for an open work permit only if you are -

1. Approved to work in Canada for 6 months or longer.

2. Doing a job that is at Skill Level 0, A or B.

Your spouse’s work permit will not be valid for longer than yours.
